CFCF remixing Active Child. Need we say more? Probably not, but lets dig deep here. The Montreal based CFCF adds a nice little touch of bass to the track with a splash of pan flute. Thats right your listening to the pan flute. The two up-and-comers were kind enough to give away the track for free. You can download Active Child - High Priestess (CFCF Remix) by clicking on the link below or here.
It looks like Das Rascistcan keep a promise. About a hot minuet ago the New York rappers promised us solo mixtapes from each of its three members, Heems, Dapwell, and Kool A.D. and before you could say Happy New Year the latter of the trio drops his mixtape. Thats right Kool A.D. kicks off our 2012 with The Palm Wine Drinkard. A truly dope mixtape from beginning to end. We left you a little taste with our favorite track Girls and Women, and it wasn't easy to pick a favorite. You can download The Palm Wine Drinkard in its entirety for free directly from Mr. Kool A.D.
It looks like the folks at Mojo Magazine had a few tricks hidden up their sleeves before the end of 2011. Included in the music mag's first issue of the year is a particularly stellar cover album of New Order's Power, Corruption & Lies. The tribute includes covers by The Golden Filter, S.C.U.M., and Destroyer (full track listing below). We left you our favorite off the album, Destroyer's take on Leave Me Alone, along with some bonus love in the form S.C.U.M.'s rendition of 586. As always, click on the link to download. Enjoy.
Without further ado we present the Scotch and Murder 50+ favorite tracks from 2011. The only order the tracks are in is alphabetical. We just really aren't into the whole rating thing. In an effort to be unique we left out some of the more common tracks that you probably have seen elsewhere. To download a track or find out more about an artist simply click on the title of the track and that will take to more info and download links. The list is chalk full of goodies and were not gonna spoil it for you. Thats right, go on and get your scroll on already. After the break that is (click here).

Keep an eye out for the duo's release Be Strong, due out digitallyJanuary 31ston DFA. Grab the free download of the track right off the player.
About a minuet ago Appaloosa dropped their debut EP Patchwork. In that hot minuet ATTAR!'s(former Mustang, Renaud Deru's new solo project) dub remix of the track quickly climbed the beatport charts. To celebrate its success and the Christmas spirit the fine folks at DiscoTexas are giving away the breadwinner for free. What a dandy it is. You can pick up the entire Appalosa Patchwork EP directly from iTunes, juno, and beatport.
We all remember Kris Menace releasing his explosive collaboration single Discopolis with Lifelike on Alen Braxe's label Vulture Music. Just recently the man completed a new collab with friends Lawrence Tompson and Radical Peterson, naming the project Stars on 33. The five track EP was released on December 19th and is an extension of Menace's library of smooth house grooves.
Australian based duo Voltaire Twins' awesome composition called Romulus is appropriately remixed by the stellar Moullinex. More and more of these hard bass driving recreations are being released on a daily basis and the following track is a perfect example of just how good they can be. Dance to it, walk to it, ride the subway to it, do whatever with it. Just do it to this. We're definitely rocking out to this track on the streets of NYC.
Walter Sobecksqueezes in one last mixtape before the years end, Christmas D´Amour. Theres a couple of things to love about this one. First, we must point the fantastically devilish album artwork featuring a religiously symbol-ed out Mr. T. We're pretty sure there is even a little Hanukkah love in that gold mess of his. Then there is the endles track list, which houses so many Scotch and Murder favorites we dont even know where to begin. A perfect blend of Glam, House, and Disco. Be sure to give Beni's remix of the Flight FacilitiesForeign Language a spin. To top it all off the Paris based duo is dropping the mix with a free download attached.

Gemini gets in there with an epic re-work of Lana Del Rey's Born To Die. The 21-year old Brit adds heaps of electro to the track, while keeping with its dark undertones. The remix features some booming synths with some subtlety blissful keys. Oh yeh, then theres Ms. Lana Del Rey's perfect vocals. Cause you and I, we were born to die.
The Magicianends 2011 by sending you magic kisses with Magic Tape Eighteen. From what we've heard so far it sounds like the magic man has thrown in some Perseus, Oliver, and a little bit of Jacques Renault on his latest mixtape. We are working on a track list as we speak, but wanted to get you the goods sooner rather than later. As always you can download The Magician's Magic Tape Eighteen directly off the player. Bon Appetit.
The most recent addition to the Scotch and Murder residency of DJs, KRYCHEK, gets back to us with his latest mixtape adventure into the realm of disco. The stellar mix is fittingly titled, The Kronicles of Krychek, as we start off with the soft disco bumps of Strange Talk's jubilant Climbing Walls only to eventually be lead into the dark heart of David Lynch's Good Day Today (off Crazy Clown Time). The mix features a number of Scotch and Murder favorites along the way including Oliver, Shindu, Jensen Sportag, Fabian, Justin Faust, and The Wombats. All in all KRYCHEK captures a fine blend of Nu-Disco and Doom Disco, with a little bit of everything in between. Might we add that you should be bumping this at your holiday disco dance parties. Now go out there and get your groove on.
Happy holidays and stuff. Enjoy this dandy of a playlist we made just for you, featuring some of our favorites from the past few weeks. Track list follows. Get crazy out there.

Beck gets his hands dirty with this fine remix of Feist's How Come You Never Go There. Sir Beck adds a heavy dose of horns and base on the track, but keep with its overall ghostly demeanor. There is definitely something supremely soulful about the re-work. Certainly a successful collaboration. How come your so alone there.
Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo and the Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 wish you a merry Christmas and happy holiday with this acoustic B-side rendition of Church of Noise. Its a pretty bizzarre version of the track given the original is premised on Dennis Lyxzén's screaming vocals and the Beetroots electronics hymns. Yet, the more melodic soft-core version certainly sends the same message. The track affirms one thing, expect anything but the expected from those god damned Bloody Beetroots.
Remember that official video for Foreign LanguageFlight Facilitiespromised us a while back? Well its here, and it is fantastic. Its rare these these days to find a video that captures the essence of a song such as this one. We couldn't conjure up a a more fitting 70's Disco-chic, hard-bodied, espionage, thriller than what is in the video for Foreign Language. It may even be a little too good, haf way through we forgot it was music video. Now if we can only get Flight Facilities to direct a full length feature, or at least the soundtrack to one.
Radioheadannounces that it will be releasing a little holiday cheer in the form of a new single due out December 19th. The Daily Mail and Staircase are the two new tracks set to drop. Although both songs were recorded during the King of Limbs Basement Sessions, they were not included on the album, yet they have been played for live audiences. We get a little taste of the single with the studio release of Daily Mail below.
Adventure Clubtakes us back to the dubbier side of things. The Montreal DJ/production duo show off their ability to create soft builds that lead to heavy drops on their remix of Metric's Collect Call. The duo also appear to be joining the helmet / mask rage that seems to go hand in hand with an electronic artists persona these days. Very Magneto-esque. We can dig it. Download the Adventure Club remix of Metric's Collect Call for free off the player. If somebody's got soul, you've got to make a move.
SymbolOne takes you for a ride with Memory Level. It took us all of about 12 seconds to fall in love with this track. A perfectly blended mix of blaring horns, 80s post-prom love lost, synthetic beats, rain washed streets, and very real heartbeats. The Dublin and Split based synth maestros fittingly describe Memory Level's genre as The End, which we asume is a sub-genre of their perfected Doom Disco. Jump into it.
Air and Victoria Legrandof Beach House team up to create Seven Stars. As ambiant a collaboration we have ever heard, the pairing works well together playing off each others strengths. Seven Stars is set to be featured on on Air's forthcoming Le Voyage Dans Lune. The album is a tribute to fellow Frenchman GeorgesMéliès' affluential 1902 silent film of the same title. The album also features a collaboration with Au Revoir Simone. This our first bite at the album, and if the rest follows in suit we are all in store for a grand musical experience.
Alex Jacob and Spencer Frazen come together to create Fantasy Island. As described to us "a duo that is music to your ears, both literally and figuratively." We were instantly smitten after hearing Avenue, a soothingly soulful track. Audio chicken soup if you will. Avenue will be released on a double a-side limited edition 7' vinyl on February 27th 2012. To make sure you dont miss out you can pre-order your copy directly from Stroll On Records. It hurt so bad.
Just in case you missed Major Lazer's new video for Original Don (featuring The Party Squad). We guess if you can make a video and song pairing this kick ass you can call yourself an Original Don. Shout out to grandmas everywhere. Ruuuuunnnnnnnnnn Theeeeeeee Tracckkkkkkkkkk.
WhoMadeWholeaks us their up coming single,Inside World. Quite a different approach than we are used to hearing from the Copenhagen trifecta. The track carries an electronic air to it, and is certainly lighter than our previous WMW favorite, Every Minuet Alone. A stellar track nonetheless. The Inside World singleis set for release January 23, 2012 and features an acoustic b-side with John Grant. Inside World will be also be included on WhoMadeWho's upcoming album Brighter, due out February 27, 2012 (Kompakt).
We have been waiting patiently for the French power pop group Pony Pony Run Run to release their new single "Just a Song" along with a February 27 release date for their next album. This is a wonderful precursor to what we expect to be a great album. This Duran Duran-esque track maintains this group's reputation as awesome pop writers with a French electronic edge.
The ghostly sounds of Holy Other get remixed by fellow label mate The Haxan Cloak and Andy Scott. With Uwas hands down one of our favorite EPs of the year, so its nice to see it getting some remix love. Know Where and Feel Something are the two remixed tracks, and both will be included on Tri Angle Records 2011 & Beyond, a digital compilation for Bleep. The remixes add a lighter touch to Holy Other's erie sounds, but retain plenty of darkness. Plenty of darkness.
It looks like the master of mid-fi has had some extra time to mix while touring the EU. As the rest of us are bumping out to those Pumped Up Kicks, Com Truise is marching to a different tune (as usual). Mr. Truise takes on Foster The People'sHelena Beat adding his signature synth-wave style to the track. Scoop it up.
Oliver keeps it going with another freshly minted Nu-disco anthem, Footsteps. The track starts off with a perfectly slow build to get your attention. Then those quick breathtaking vocals jump in. This is the part where you cant help but start dancing. The loop goes on and on.... I Hear Footsteps.
Scotch & MurderMusic collaborate once again with Leger De Main to bring you a new mix tape. This one, called The Other Side, presents remarkably new sounds, different from what we are used to. Before KRYCHEK gave you 80's electro, synth pop. Now Leger brings deep, tech-house, and techno tracks directly from the European underground scene, all together in this one hour electronic synapse.

Twin Sister hits us off with this dandy of a remix of Bad Streetby Lindstrom & Prins Thomas. An interesting pairing of lush Long Island with Norwegian electronica. The result? A more than bubbly genre we are calling champagne disco. Definitely something we can get into. I want it bad.
We now present to you our latest addition to the resident DJ collection, KRYCHEK.Being one of the editors of Scotch and Murder Music as well,he believed a larger contribution to the site's audience was essential. If you have been following the site for the past year, the following 1 hour of audio comfort will be of no surprise to your ears. Opening up with a Pyramid remix of by Justice's Canyon, the compilation continues into 80's electro, disco pop, and synth all the way to till closing baby!
