The Cure Live at Beacon Theatre (Video)

We finally bring you our coverage of The Cure's Reflections Tour from this past Sunday's show (special thanks to the Queen of e.vil who blessed us with front row seats). Needless to say this was a performance of epic proportions. Robert Smith and his band of talents put on intimate four hour show to a sold out Beacon Theatre, all the while never forcing fan favorites, but instead playing the tracks they wanted us to hear.

The concert included a Robert Smith tear streaming rendition of Seventeen Seconds to close out the Seventeen Seconds set. However, Mr. Smith was not the only one crying,  just about every other time we took our eyes off the band we noticed Cure die-hards pouring their eyes out, and perhaps their hearts as well. There were rumors swirling that this would be The Cure's  last live show, however, Rob dismissed those, closing the concert with a very chippy "see you next year" (you can catch that at the end of the Boys Dont Cry video). Yes we will Rob, yes we will.

Below you will find our video coverage of the event, including videos for A Forest, Killing An Arab, Lets Go To Bed, and a concert closing Boys Dont Cry.

After the show we caught up with Queen of e.vil to show some love. At that same time The Cure's kick ass roadies were giving away some stage items to die-hards. Guess what Mrs. e.vil came down with? Robert Smith's stage beer, lipstick stained and all. Check out the video below to see how that cup of lager got to Kill Hannah front-man Mat Devine and what he decided to do with it.

Nattsvart - Döda

Our friends over at Comorbid Records introduced us to a new artist, Nattsvart, and we would like to take a minuet to introduce you to him. The Sweden based Nattsvart artists delivers some very, dark, mysterious, gothic-esque tracks with an electro twinge to it. The man behind the name describes his genre of music as Dark Doomy IDM. We'll take it. We left you our favorite track, Döda, but take a minuet to check out Nattsvart soundcloud page for more. Oh, and Nattsvart translates to as black as night. Makes perfect sense to us.

Work Drugs - Physical Acts

Physical Acts, the third single from Work Drugs debut album Aurora Lies, gets a music video. The Philly based talents revealed that the track was written in response to the state Philadelphia was in after they returned from a recording session in Argentina. In particular the band mentions the Occupy Movement, Philadelphia sports, and flash mobs. The guys of Work Drugs are so bad ass that they are giving away the track for free on the Work Drugs soundcloud page. If you want to pick up the entire Aurora Lies album jump over to the Work Drugs bandcamp page (only 8 ducketts).             It's a Heart Attack of Love.

Electric Youth - Real Human Being Mix

In an effort to show you how bad we feel when we miss a day of posting we will be doing some late night blogging, culminating with our coverage of the The Cure live at Beacon Theatre (videos included).

We kick off our late night session with the Real Human Being Mix an exceptionally brilliant mixtape by Electric Youth. Fresh off releasing their Right Back to You EP the Canadian childhood loves put together this smashing mix featuring tracks and remixes by M83 The Magician, Plastic Plates, Luke Million, Miami Horror, Washed Out, Fred Flake, and the list could keep on going. JKriv & Lou Teti - Elisco

JKriv and Lou Teti drop some soulful deep disco on us with Elisco. The Brooklyn based pairing creates a unique bass driven disco that we cant say we've heard yet. The name Lou Teti may sound for familiar, as Mr. Teti was recently featured on the Magician's Magic Tape 17. The guys are giving away the Alphabet City remix of the Elisco, which you can download from soundcloud. We are suckers for the original, so we downloaded the full Elisco EP from junoI like the way you love better.

ABADABAD - California Birds (Keep Shelly in Athens Remix)

Keep Shelly in Athens jumps back to the 80s with their re-work of ABADABAD's California Birds. The remix is part of Keep Shelly's new EP, Our Own Dream, and judging by the album cover perhaps the Greek duo has a remix EP in the works. Earlier this week the collaboration was posted as a video, now you can grab the track for free (in player).  Totally, completely, dreamy. Listen for the guitar riff.

ABADABAD - California Birds (Keep Shelly in Athens remix) by Keep Shelly in Athens

Young Galaxy - Versus (Remix EP)

The fine people over at Paper Bag Records are giving a way a stellar  Remix EP, Versus, by Young Galaxy. The EP is actually more of an inverse remix album in the sense that it features remixes by Young Galaxy, as opposed to remixes of them. Versus some spot on re-works of gifted musicians including, Junior Boys, Freedom or Death, Austra, and Handsome Furs. We left you Young Galaxy's take on CFCF's snake charmer as a little sample. Definitely something you want to check out.

Junior Boys - You'll Improve Me (Caribou Remix)

Heres some Canadian on Canadian remix action as Caribou re-works the Junior Boys' You'll Improve Me. Caribou delivers a very dark, yet soulful, rendition of the track.  The remix features some perfect builds supported by excellent spacing. The track is off the upcoming  You'll Improve Me single (out on Domino on 12/12/11), which also features a remix by DEM 2Should Have Known I Was Angry.

Tommy Trash - Future Folk (LAZRtag Moombahton Bootleg)

LAZRtag takes a stab at Moombahton and knocks it out the park. The duo hailing from LA mix some fresh sounds to create a very nice groove. Definitely a different sound than what were used to hearing from LAZRtag, but as the duo notes, a change of pace is good from time to time. Its certainly is this time. Whether you like it or not this track will get you moving. Free download in the player. Show some love.

Friendly Fires - Blue Cassette (Tiga Remix)

Montreal greatness Tiga lends a helping hand to those Friendly Fires cats with this perfectly cut re-work of Blue Cassette. A steady progression in to a wave pool of deep bass. It also helps that this is one of our personal favorite Friendly Fires tracks. TIGA. TIGA TIGA. Watch the amoebas.

FJazz - Posthuman Times

Our Brazilian friend Fernando Arruda, aka FJazz, just released his first LP Posthuman Times which you can purchase on amazon or itunes. Fernando is a super talented musician and multi-instrumentalist. His aptitude and comprehension of various genres of music definitely shine in this compilation as you hear both worlds of jazz fusion and electro collide in every track. The Rapture - Sail Away (Video)

The Rapture take us on a wild ride through the streets of Brooklyn in their video for Sail Away. As front man Luke Jenner floats through the streets on what appears to be unbranded bag of awesomeness, while his band mates blast out on conch shells and Shofars. Sail Away is of The Rapture's In the Grace Of Your Love, which is out now on DFA. Pick up your copy directly from The Rapture. Superb video for a superb track. These People don't know how it feels with you

LE MATOS - Coming Soon

We just discovered Le Matos, the trio from Montreal that may have produced some of the hardest, tasteful tracks to be released on an LP in a while. Coming Soon is filled with dark 80's electro that will leave you dumbfounded and wanting more. This is not your ordinary "hey let's take some 80's jingles and rewrite them to a harder, faster beat." These guys are seriously musically talented. From Retired opening to Sister closing this awesome collaboration, you will not be disappointed with one song.

The Bloody Beetroots feat. Dennis Lyxzén - Church of Noise (Video)

Under the guise of Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo The Bloody Beetroots  continue to evolve and in turn to blow our minds. Their latest work, Church of Noise, seems to be the bands anthem, if not its mantra. The track urges us to band together and revolt. Against what we are not particularly sure, but who gives a fuck the track rocks. We're gonna go out on a limb and christen this bad boy the anthem for 2011, and why the hell not 2012. It Only takes five fingers to form a fist. Rock On.

Radiohead - Codex (Deadmau5 cover)

Apparently Deadmau5 is able to take on all forms of music, electronic or otherwise.  This time Mr. Mau5 takes on the art of The Cover. That is performing the music of another band. The Mau5 jumps right in covering none other than the world-class elite band of musicians that is Radiohead. An interesting paring that is sure to grab the eyes of both the new and old school. No vocals on the cover, but Deadmau5 certainly captures the emotions of a very emotional song. Drink it in.

Radiohead - Codex (deadmau5 cover) by fuckmylife

Urban Cone - Freak (Video)

Urban Cone celebrates its first single release with a video for that single, Freak. A smashing video at that (directed by Niclas Larsson and Olof Lindh + D.O.P credits to Erik Nordlund).  The Stockholm natives give off a certain European indie vibe, if that makes any sense. The quintet sends a reminder that perhaps we're all freaks, and perhaps there is nothing wrong with that. Pick up Urban Cone's debut single FreakWe dig it. Can you dig it?

After hours of painstaking music listening and mixing we proudly present the second installment of the Scotch and Murder Mixtapes, ¿Already?. This one is full of deep dark bangers that you are sure to enjoy. So sit back grab some popcorn and let your ears muse over Leger’s roller coaster of a masterpiece.

Max Cooper - feat Grt People - Careless (Original Mix)

We Have Band - Still Life (The Horrors Cover)

We Have Band jumps in with a nice little cover of The Horrors' Still Life. Definitely a new sound to the track. Opposed to front-man Faris Badwan's booming vocals we get a medley of soft vocals played over organ keys and a series of intermittent synthetic sounds. We also decided to include the video of The Horrors' recent cover of David Bowie's Sufferagette City. Covers all around.

We Have Band - Still Life (The Horrors Cover) by We Have Band

The Ting Tings - Silence (Bag Raiders Remix)

Great to see some new remix work from Bag Raiders. Their latest re-work is a little splice up The Ting Tings' Silence. A bit of a progressive vibe coming from this one. The track features front-women Katie White's soft vocals layered over some synth and interesting percussion. The original version Silence of silence will be released on The Ting Tings' sophomore effort Kunst. Scoop it out.

Ford & Lopatin + Shannon Funchness + Tamaryn - Snakes / Flying Dream

Mexican Summer reaches the 100 mark. Their 100ths release that is. The indie label will be releasing a split single featuring Ford & Lopatin collaborating with fellow Scotch and Murder favorites Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess and Tamaryn. You can grab a sneak peak to the split below with a stream of both tracks, Snakes (Funchess)  and Flying Dream (Tamaryn).

Holy Ghost! - I Wanted to Tell Her (feat. Nancy Whang & Juan Maclean)

With a little love from Nancy Whang, of LCD Soundsystem fame, and Juan MacLean, Holy Ghost! covers Ministry's 80 classic ballad, I Wanted To Tell Her. The group of synth-heads get together and kill the track creating a fantastic 80s dance-vibe. In the alternative, this bad boy could probably play in any post-modern love story montage involving dark sunglasses and white blouses. So yeh blast this track for a minuet.

Holy Ghost! - I Wanted to Tell Her (feat. Nancy Whang & Juan MacLean)

Friendly Fires - Hurting (Video) + (Tensnake Remix)

The Friendly Fires release this little music video for their latest single Hurting. We love these guys, they just give off such great energy. If you've seen them live you understand where we're coming from (plus you'll love front man Ed Macfarlane's signature dance moves (and Hawaiian prints)).  We also left you the Tensnake remix of the track we've been jamming out to for a hot minuet. Your touch keeps on hurting

Friendly Fires - Hurting Tensnake Remix

Summer Camp - You Might Get Stuck on Me (Video)

The new song by Summer Camp has its own video. That song of course is You Might Get Stuck on Me. A track warning those at the budding stages of love of just that, love. The duo keeps impressing us with Jeremy Warmsley's excellent production perfectly paired to the picturesque vocals of  Elizabeth Sankey.  Be careful, you might get stuck on them.  A quick special thanks to 17 Cosmetics for recognizing special talent that deserves support. Dont forget to pickup Summer Camp's debut album Welcome to Condale, out now.

A Place To Bury Strangers - So Far Away

At long last, the NYC loud ass shoegazers will be releasing their next EP, Onwards to the Wall, in February of 2012. A Place to Bury Strangers gave us Exploding Heads in 2009, a true hard rock album with singer/guitarist Oliver Ackermann leveraging his pedal creations in full force, destroying your ears with tracks like Deadbeat or In Your Heart. Here is a little taste of what's to come.
