The XX - Night Time (Synkro Remix)

All remixes of The XX have been consistently great. The most recent one to surface by the Manchester producer Synkro has a bit of a house edge and definitely that Northwest UK ambient sound. The original Night Time is a moving piece by itself. Throwing some electronic drums over the track, yet maintaining The XX's reverb guitar and Romy's soft and smooth vocals, Synkro delivers a a solid piece of work.

Lana Del Rey - Video Game (BALAM ACAB Remix)

BALAM ACAB is the latest artist to get his hands on Lana Del Rey's Video Games.   Mr. Acab plays off Ms. Del Rey's picturesque vocals with airy builds and soft landings. A perfectly built spaceship ride through where ever you want to be floating through. Just play a video game.

Lana Del Rey - Video Game (BALAM ACAB Remix)

Grimes - Oblivion

Instantly loved the girl wonder that is Grimes' new track Oblivion, off the highly anticipated Visions LP (due out January 31, 2012 on ARBUTUS). Just some perfectly played synths on the track with crisp soft vocals, not much more to say. Emphasis on the perfect synths.

Grimes - Oblivion

M83 - Midnight City (Video)

Just in case you missed M83's video for their latest single Midnight City. This one is a far out mind bender featuring some young telepathic bad-asses. Directed by Fleur & Manu of Division (who also did Cut Copy's latest video for Blink and You'll Miss a Revolution), the video is a tribute to Village of the Damned, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and other Akiras.

Tyson - After You're Gone (The Magician Remix)

Well this pairing is perfect. The Magician lays his nu-disco vibes over Tyson's booming vocals in his remix to After You're Gone. The magic man kills this one with a heavy dose synthetics and some perfectly plaid piano keys. Also, check out Tyson's original After You're Gone and its superb video. Just in case you're keeping score at home, that's another free download for you the loyal listener.

We Have Band - Visionary

We were quite delighted to open our mailbox and find a new track from We Have Band. The immensely talented trio is set to release their second album in early 2012. Moullinex - Crown Jewels

Moullinex drops in with a stellar mixtape to get you through the minuet. Crown Jewels features some brand new tracks from one of our personal favorite labels D.I.S.C.O. Texas. Get this, it only gets better from there. Yes, you can download the whole mixtape for free. Rich, real rich.

Work Drugs - Third Wave (Paola Remix)

We already checked out Teeel's remix of Work Drugs' Third Wave, and now Paola gets a crack at the track. The latest revision of the track takes on a much darker tone, slowing down the beat and pumping the track with some some erie keys and hardcore guitar riffs.  A true ballad. Lana del Rey - Video Games (Jamie Woon Remix)

Jamie Woon puts in some serious work on the strikingly beautiful Lana del Rey's Video Games. Woon gives the song a very dark vibe, keying on some choice lyrics and pushing a dark synthetic vibe hard. The sudden and random voice modifications are a guilty pleasure to your ears. A perfectly hypnotizing remix.

COOLRUNNINGS - The Fool (Video)

The Fool is a nice little new single from COOLRUNNINGS. Its a different sound than we are used to hearing from the indie band, but we commend them for taking on a new sound. More importantly, the post-rock 80s sound works well. We dig it. The video features clips of Andy Warhol's The Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Download The Fool directly from the COOLRUNNINGS bandcamp page.

The Magician (feat. Jeppe) - I Don't Know What To Do (Fabian Remix)

Fabian jumps in on The Magician remix scene with this pumped up nu-disco remix of I Don't Know What To Do. The magic man's latest remix EP is shaping up nicely with solid remixes by both Plastic Plates and now Fabian.  I keep on keep on.

Total Slacker - Secret VHS Collection (Selebrities Remix)

Selebrities turn up post-rock on Total Slacker's Secret VHS Collection. The Brooklyn based band seems to have firmly entrenched their placed in the post-rock / new wave genre. Pretty great to see a band keying on a sound that we love so much.

Crystal Fighters - Plage (ALVARO REMIX)

ALVARO hooks it up with a free remix of the Crystal Fighters Plage. The tracks starts off quite mellow with a nice little drum beat, soft vocals, and some minuter guitar. Lets not be fooled though, ALVARO kicks it up adding some dirty dub to the track and grinding synth to the track.

Justice Remixes The Golden Age

Are you kidding me with this remix Justice? This seriously came out of left field. Here we have the French duo contributing their classic clean bass sound over the super poppy and funky The Golden Age by the The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. The track must be dominating the French House club scene/air waves currently and we guarantee will hit the U.S. very soon. Definitely one of the better remixes coming out lately. What a surprise.

Alex Winston - Velvet Elvis (Crystal Fighters Remix)

We already heard (and loved) RAC's re-work of Alex Winston's Velvet Elvis, now the Crystal Fighters  get their hands on those delicate piercing vocals. They do no disappoint.

The New Division - Shallow Play (John Glenn Remix)

The New Division's highly anticipated debut album, Shadows, is finally here. We've been telling you for a minute how much we love the So-Cal new-wave act, so we won't gush our hearts out much more here. What we will do is give you a free remix of Shallow Play by none other than New Division front man John Kunkel's alter ego John Glenn. Go over to bandcamp and pick up the full album because it is fantastic. Once you you've got your paws on that, here are the album's killer lyrics. Simply put, simply fantastic.

Apparat - Candil de la Calle

One of Berlin's electronic perfectionists, Apparat, just released his fourth album The Devil's Walk, a blend of melancholic and grandiose tracks remaining in the sphere of the German's unique sound. You may be familiar with the single Black Water, a fantastic 5:00 minute ballad infused with an eerie atmospheric sound and fitting soft vocals. However, the track that stands out the most to us is Candil de la Calle. Completely reminiscent of the 2007 hit You Don't Me.

Holy Ghost! - Hold My Breath (Video)

Finally our favorite Holy Ghost! track gets its own video. While we're not the biggest fans of photo montages, it works pretty perfectly well for Hold My Breath.

M.I.A. - Born Free (Jesús Vögel remix) + (Video)

We area a little suprised to find ourselves posting some M.I.A on the old Scotch and Murder Music chart. However, Jesús Vögel's re-work of the track is pretty god damned dope. Check it out.

Blood Orange - Champagne Coast

Champagne Toast is the new single from local favorite Blood Orange, who also happens to be embarking on a US tour with CANT (Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear).  We had the pleasure of witnessing Mr. Orange's performance of this song live at the MoMA PS1's Warm Up Sessions and it was probably one of the most intimate we've seen to date. This guy can rock the hell out of a guitar. Just go into his bedroom.

Blood Orange - Champagne Coast

IS TROPICAL - LIES (Video)

So today we've learned two things about IS TROPICAL: 1) they make genius music 2) they make genius music videos. The Kitsune band's second single music video takes a different approach from The Greeks. There we saw little boys bringing their creativity to life with nerf guns and cartoon blood. With Lies the band pairs their deep synth and on point vocals with some glitched out retro vulture shots and modern hot sex romp. They don't love you. True colors shine through.

M83 - Midnight City Remix EP

GAMES - New Disguise

GAMES, the alter ego of Ford & Lopatin, aka Joel Ford and Daniel Lopatin, drop in with a new track New Disguise. The firs track released by the duo since switching names takes on more of groove sound than we are used to under the old moniker. They do however keep with the retro feel from past works. More GAMES please.

Radiohead - Lotus Flower (SBTRKT Remix)

So we've been listening to the Radiohead TKOL RMX series for a hot minuet now, and we think we've settled on a favorite. SBTRKT adds a little kick, actually make that quite a few kicks, to our latest Radiohead favorite Lotus Flower. SBTRKT sets up the track with about as perfect as an intro as we've heard. We left you two other underplayed high quality tracks from TKOL series as well, remixes by Jamie XX and Caribou.  Long live the King of Limbs.

Com Truise - Brokendate (Video)

Com Turise drops this short film for one of our favorites off his debut full length Galactic Melt.  Brokendate (directed by 10lb Productions) takes on everything 80s detective-noir and sci-fi and delivers it in a finely wrapped five minuet bundle of joy. If you've been following us for a minuet now you have definitely heard of the Brooklyn synth wizard that is Com Truise. If not, then check out a little bio about him here. Also, check out Com Trusie' tour dates. See you at the beach.
