Little Scream - The Heron and the Fox (Work Drugs Smooth Mix)

Work Drugs puts some smooth in Little Scream's The Heron and the Fox. That smooth comes in the form of some perfectly shaken maracas (we think), lightly plucked synths, and sounds from the smoothest of all instruments the saxophone (of course).  The perfect end of summer song, listen to this one on a slow drive with windows down and sun glasses up. Free download of the exclusive remix of the track available in the player.  Make a wish and it'll come true.

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – The Body (Violens Remix)

Last time we checked in with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart they were remixed by Twin Shadow. Now, Violens add some dark synths to The Pains of Being Pure At Heart's The Body. Definitely an added dose of darkness in there.  Watch the original self-casted video The Body below to fully feel the effects of the remixGrab the track for free in exchange for your e-mail address below. Tell me again what the body's for cause I cant feel it any more. I want it to hurt like it did before.

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – The Body (Violens Remix)

Neon Indian - Polish Girl (Video)

In conjunction with today's release of Era Extraña, Neon Indian drops this heart throbbing video for Polish Girl. The video takes a new spin on "lonely robot finds love" featuring a futuristic man-machine and a polish girl. Oh, the things robots will do for love. The video keeps with Alan Palomo's retro futuristic vibe that we've grown accustom to. Pretty gnarly.

Cut Copy - Blink And You'll Miss A Revolution (Video)

Those Cut Copy guys are some creative mother effers. Their latest video for Blink and You'll Miss a Revolution, off their most recent album Zonoscope, features a band of rouge evolving apes who use the band's disembodied parts to jam / rock out to the track. The immaculate video was directed by Emile Sornin and Produced by Jules de Chateleux at Division. Floating Kiwi heads and apes breaking shit, doesn't get much better than this.

The Magician - Magic Tape Fifteen

The Magician drops with the fifteenth installment in his Magic Tape series. As we have come to expect from the magic man, there is no accompanying track list (the man has to keep his secrets). However, this one chalk full of exclusives, which is always a good thing. The Magician keeps on keeping it magical.

The Golden Filter - S Y N D R O M E S // M O T H E R

The Golden Filter passes along a little teaser of their upcoming short film S Y N D R O M E S. We are thoroughly teased to say the least. The band band will be working with Norwegian Director Kristoffer Borgil to tell the story of a young girl with mysterious talents who finds herself forced into the world of the elite underworld, which only the ailing wealthy are aware of. The S Y N D R O M E S soundtrack will feature six new tracks from The Golden Filter, including the monster of a track in the clip, Mother

S Y N D R O M E S  is out October 10th on Perfectly Isolated on CD/DVD, digital soundtrack, and a limited vinyl that is accompanied with autographs' of the band members. Pre-Order S Y N D R O M E S here, and purchase the soundtrack from iTunes.

PICTUREPLANE - The Art of Feeling (!PAUS3 Mix Part One)

Our friends over at Projecting Nothing send over a !PAUS3 remix of SMM favorite Pictureplane. The re-work is certainly sordid, featuring some deep bass, nasty guitar riffs, and classical piano. You can grab the remix for free off !PAUS3 facebook page. Real has never felt more real.

Summer Camp - Better Off Without You (Video)

Summer Camp's Better Off Without You gets a much deserved video with a perfectly late 60s vibe to it. We already told you how much we love Summer Camp, but take a minuet to watch the video, which adds another layer to a track we already love. Dopeness.

Youth Lagoon - Montana (Video)

Just in case you missed Youth Lagoon's video Montana. Supremely Americana.

Raized By Wolves - The Call (Eyes Remix)

Raized By Wolves, the latest addition to Deadmou5' Mau5trap family, hits the ground running with The Call. RBW strive to bring they're audiences a blend of quality electronic music and captivating vocals, sung by none other than guest vocalist and The Editors front man, Tom Smith. The Call features some mind boggling bass lines and epic drops that will send you into a free fall of grinding synth riffs. Eyes, who you may remember from his dirty remix of Ellie Goulding's Lights, work on the track only amplifies the mentioned effects. Track is free to download right off the player.   Now give me something to love.

Sneaky Sound System - Big (Oliver Remix)

The Oliver craze continues with his new remix of Sneaky Sound System's Big. Another perfectly 80s deep synth track from the LA based duo. Oliver adds Sneaky to the impressive list of artists they've remixed which includes: Don Diablo, Chromeo, Juan Atkins, Penguin Prison, Housse de Racket. Think Big. We could do anything.

Battles - My Machines (feat. Gary Numan) (Video)

Just in case you missed the Battles' video for My Machines. So this is why they have emergency buttons for escalators. Time to rock out.

Chairlift - Amanaemonesia (Video)

Local Brooklynite's Chairlift released a new video for their single Amanaemonesia. The video features front-women Caroline Polacheck dancing around in a green-man bodysuit (sans head covering) on what appears to be the local access television channel of a distant universe (which is awesome). We wish we could dance like that.  Amanaemonesia will be on Chairlifts upcoming third project Number Seven (Terrible Records). Chasing The Rabbit. Mistaken for Magic.

John Kunkel - The One Thing I Cant Have

New Division front man John Kunkel shows off his dancey side with solo release, The One Thing I Cant Have. A departure from what were used to from the man whose booming vocals we've come to love. But that's not a bad thing. Mr. Kunkel displays immense talent taking on a genre and excelling all the while with some grinding synths. Perfect build ups, bridges, and breakdowns make this one that well be blasting throughout the weekend and beyond. Theres a little Deadmau5 vibe in there if you ask us.

Wintercoats - Working On A Dream (Video)

Melbourne native Wintercoats fills us with wonder and enchantment with Working on a Dream off his debut EP Sketches.  A Supremely dreamy track that will put you in a total trance. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Wintercoats is that it is a solo-act, something that took us a while to comprehend. The video, by Feel Good Lost, is just as spell binding as the track, if not more so. In it we follow a young explorer who reminds of life in a simpler time where we enjoyed simpler things. Stunning stuff.

Sketches  is set for release September 27th on Cascine. For now you can download Wintercoats' Working on A Dream for free off the player.

The New Division - Shallow Play

What a good day for good music. First, Trentemoller remixes M83. Next, Paper Plates re-works The Wombats. We get fresh anthem (and video) from Tyson. Then a new side of an up and coming phenom, Hackman, is revealed. Now our current favorite indie post-rock band, The New Division, drops in with a new track off their upcoming Shadows EP. The perfect proverbial cherry on top.

Shallow Play provides us with the deep synthetics we love to hear so much from the Califronia based band, and keeps with their cryptic lyrics, which is always a good thing. Shadows  is set to drop on September 27th, so save up those singles. The New Division is so fucking cool that you can download the track for free right off the player. In the alternative, you can be really fucking cool (like us) and drop your new favorite band a dollar (just one) for bringing you some blissed out sounds.

Shallow Play by The New Division

Birdy - People Help the People (Hackman Remix)

Hackman shows off his lighter side in his remix to Birdy's People Help People. Dont be fooled though, there is still some deep dark synth to be heard on the track. So long as the Leeds scholar keeps on pumping out anthems, we'll keep posting them. Gifted to say the least.

Trickski & Soul Clap - Members of the Clap

Trickski passes along, Members of the Clap, a little collaboration they did with Soul Clap (on permanent vacation). The track, dubbed under Slow House, features a nasty base line that just wont go away. Good nasty, of course. The beat will keep your head banging. A perfect track for any Gandhi march, group or solo.

Trickski & Soul Clap - Members of the clap by trickski

Tyson - After You're Gone (Video)

Tyson continues to belt out 80s synth ballads with After You're Gone. Each song we've heard from London based artist sounds as if it was ripped right off the soundtrack to an 80s movie. We say that with no negative connotation what-so-ever. The man has just focused his talents and energy on a particular genre/sound and is killing it in that genre/sound. The video features a creative plethora of masks and glasses, while Tyson's booming vocals and a collection of hard-bodies keeping you entranced.

The Wombats - Our Perfect Disease (Plastic Plates Remix)

Plastic Plates gets back to work with a supremely disco remix of The Wombats' Our Perfect Disease. A very synthed out 80s beat that will have you dancing at that desk of yours. PP continues to impress by creating a unique classic/retro vibe to everything he touches. The mans got the midas touch. Free download in the player. We all need someone to drive us mad.

Oh yeh, for all of our New Yorkers and Brooklynites, Mr. Plates will be putting his talents on display tomorrow (Thursday September 8th) at Pianos in the LES. For free. See you there.

M83 - Midnight City (Trentemøller Remix)

Nothing better than waking up to find that a favorite artists has been remixed by another favorite. Hence, we start this grey day on the right foot after waking up to see Trentemøller apply his out-worldly talent on a remix to M83's latest single, Midnight City. The Dane slows down and extends the track, transforming its 4 minute 80s disco vibe into a 7 minuet ballad. To our dismay, there are no saxophones to be heard here, however, it makes perfect sense if you think about Trentemøller's unique sound. Instead, an awesomely eerie guitar riff that lingers throughout song's soul.

Trentemøller's remix will be on the Midnight City Remix EP, set for release on September 27. The Remix EP will also feature the Big Black Delta re-work we mentioned last week. M83's North American tour start October 28th in Washington DC, and ends with shows at Webster Hall and the Music Hall of Williamsburg.

The Drums - Money (Chad Valley Remix)

We've often wondered what a Chad Valley and The Drums collaboration would sound like. Both artist have etched out their own distinct corners of the music word, yet carry a similar "lull of summer" vibe to them. The overlap can be heard on Mr. Valley's remix to The Drums sky rocketing Money. An added dose of ambient and ocean waves, but still surfable. While its still not original collaboration, its will keep us musing of one. Free download in the player. Grab it.

Shine 2009 - So Free feat. Paula Abdul (Jensen Sportag Mix)

Our dear friends over at Cascine turn the big one today, and wanted us to share this very special track with you. On this day one year ago Cascine launched its first release Associates by Shine 2009. Since, the budding yet accomplished label have released another 11 projects, much to our enjoyment. If for some reason you are not familiar with the Cascine bunch, please do your self a favor and check out their site for some of our favorite bands to date (Southern Shores, Selebrities, Chad Valley to name a few).

To celebrate this momentus occasion the fine people at Cascine pass along a Jensen Sportag remix of So Free by Shine 2009, featuring Ms. Paula Abdul. The perfect exhale indeed.

St. Vincent - Strange Mercey (Album Stream)

Stream the entire gorgeous St. Vincent Strange Mercy album free courtesy of NPR. The album is set for release on 4AD on Septhember 13th in the US and 12th in the UK.

Justice - Audio, Video, Disco (Video)

Justice is at again releasing another video for another single. Audio, Video, Disco takes you through the French duo's creative and production process with dazzling imagery and detail. There is probably not much more to say here, except that we are quite excited for Justices full album release this October 25th.

KAMP! - Cairo (Video)

Last week we told you how excited we were about Kamp!, the latest addition to the DiscoTexas family. Now the Kamp! boys have released a pretty perfect video for the Cairo, the title track off their upcoming EP. The video features a series of dance and karate movies by a lonely dancer in what appears to be the party room of an emptied cruise liner. Thats about pretty perfect in our book. Yes, that how you look when your dancing by yourself. Looks pretty good doesent it.

Dont forget to pick up Kamp!'s Cairo EP out this Friday (9/9/11) directly from DiscoTexas.

Junior Boys - Banana Ripple (2 Bears Remix)

Junior Boys are set to real a 12" Remix EP of the epic closer Banana Ripple from their recent It's All True LP.  The EP is set for release September 26th on Domino, and will feature this awesomely acidic re-work of the track by Two Bears (aka Raf Daddy and Joe Goddard). You can pre-order your copy (digital or vinyl) directly from Domino. Scoop it up.

We left you the video of the original version just because we love it absolutely bizarreness so much.

Neo Disco Machine - Break The Ice EP

A mysterious new group/duo/whatever, Neo Disco Machine, drops in with an apparently brand spanking new EP, Break the Ice. There is not much we can say about these guys, well because there is not much out there on them. We're guessing a Russian duo, but that only based on what our ears are telling us. Anyway, the title track on the EP is pretty dopeness (below), and the whole Break The Ice EP  is free to on the the NDM's bandcamp page. Give the presumed Ruskies some love and check it out.

Gramatik vs. Queen - Princes of the Glitch Universe

Gramatik takes on Queen, and Highlander, classic Princes of the Universe. Mr. Matik, as noted in the title, adds a heavy layer of that glitchiness we love so much. His reasoning for remixing the random ballad: I used to LOVE this track when I was a kid so I said fuck it, let's do a remix! Yeh, thats about all we would need as well. We left you the original version's video so you could do a little mix and match. Plus its always great to have a little Freddie Mercury in your day. Free download in the player. Scoop it.

M83 - Midnight City (Big Black Delta Remix)

It appears as if Midnight City, the single off M83's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, will be getting its own remix EP. No news as of when it will be released, but M83 did upload this free download of Big Black Delta's take on the track  with the above photo. BBD speeds up the track, adds in some extra saxophones (always a good thing), and hides a massive drop in there some where. Can you dig it? Dig it.

Kamp! - Cairo (Moullinex Remix)

Moullinex welcomes Kamp! to the already impressive DiscoTexas family with a little remix of Cairo. Admittedly we're about a minuet late on posting this track, but we loved it too much to not share it with you. A must have for your labor day weekend parties. Moullinex speaks very highly of Kamp!, and if the remix is a sign of things to come we a re all in store for some greatness. Pick up the entire Cairo EP on 9/9/11 from DiscoTexas. Hold on the world you've been dreaming of. Follow that good time.

The Magician (Feat. Jeppe) - I Dont Know What To Do (Original Mix)

The every busy Magician releases a new track for your listening pleasure. I Don't Know What To Do keeps with summer of 80s feel with deep pop vocals by Jeppe and perfectly plaid keys by the Magic Man. The track wont be availbale for purchase till October 3rd (Kitsuné Music), so well have to bump to the track on soundcloud till then.  He doesn't know what to do. He Keeps on calling you.

DSL - Supalove (Video)

Ed Banger records drops in with a video for DSL's Supalove, which also happens to be a French cereal with exotic flavor (we kid). The video features a pair of awesomely orange Nikes that can sing. Yeh, that right the French wear shoes that can sing. Anyhow, stick around till the end for a heartfelt surprise that wont disappoint. Supalove all day.

Hidden Horizons Promo + Tokimonsta - Sa Mo Jung (Video)

Our friends over at Hidden Horizons pass along a little video they titled FIERCE.  The video features the spellbinding dancing of MaryKate O'Sullivan,  the effortless sounds of Tokimonsta's Sa Mo Jung, and some particularly excellent direction by Tim O'Sullivan. You may remember the Horizons from the work they did on Jesse Ruins Sofija Video. With talent like this it looks like these guerrilla film-makers look like they're here to stay.

How to Dress Well - Suicide Dream 2 (Holy Other Remix)

The supernatural menace that is Holy Other remixes How to Dress Well's Suicide Dream 2. This may be as spooky a re-work that we've seen from the Manchester phantom. Seriously spooky.  Pick up the original How to Dress Well track along with an orchestral version (we're suckers for the orchestra) on their limited Just Once 10" EP directly from Lover Letters Ink, the new branch of Yours Tru.ly

How to Dress Well - Suicide Dream 2 (Holy Other Remix)

Destroyer - Savage Night at the Opera (Video)

Take a motorcycle ride through the streets of Vancouver with Destroyer in their video for Savage Night at the Opera. Note that this is the band that brought you this insanely epic and illogical video for the title track off its Kaput album. Dan Bejar's vocals and eternally cryptic lyrics sound just as good on the album as they do on the video. All in all a fantastic album, be sure to pick up a copy directly from Merge Records.

Surfer Blood - Miranda

Lets keep the pace and throw you another Cali pop track, this time by Surfer Blood. The Florida based group will be releasing their anticipated Tarrot Classics EP on October 25 on Kanine records. For now we can suck on their first single Miranda. The apple does not fall far from the tree with Surfer Blood, refusing to deviate from the grungy, catchy melodies all throughout their previous album Astro Coast. Surfs up brah.

The Drums - Money (Craft Spells Remix)

One of our favorite recently released tracks has just been remixed by Craft Spells. Money by The Drums is a perfect Cali-punk tune describing the misfortunes of having no money. Replacing all instrumentals in the the original track with a consistent cello like rhythm section and violin reverb transforms the single into a smooth piece of 80s synth work.

The Drums - Money (Craft Spell Remix)

M83 - Intro (Feat. Zola Jesus)

With great pleasure we present the Intro track off the upcoming and highly anticipated M83 album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. After wowing us all with Midnight City, we find ourselves again in awe of the second release off the album. Even if it is only an intro. The track displays M83's awesome ability to set the tone, and features some phenomenal robust vocals by Zola Jesus. If we were shooting a movie set in the 80s that involved high school heart-beark, abnormally large jocks, time travel, random drug use,  and cool Corevetts, this song would probably open and close the reels.

Flight Facilities - Feeling

Flight Facilities gets super funky in their latest release, Feeling. The track is a little less synthish and a more disco house goodness than we are used to hearing from the Sydney based duo. Very enjoyable nonetheless. After not hearing from the double F in a minuet we get blessed with a pair of stellar tracks and fresh MixTape in the past month. We could get used to this. Don't you know I'm feeling?

Work Drugs - Third Wave (Teeel Remix)

Teeel seems to have been busy, releasing a second track in as many weeks. This time the 80s synth maestro remixes Work DrugsThird Wave with an abundance of success. Teeel kicks up the track up a notch with some deep synthetics, well timed chops, and by re-working the vocals on the track. This might be one of our favorite intro to a track from this summer. Grab it while its free, download in the player.

Scotch and Murder The Playlists

With a weekend that seems to have us stuck indoors, we figured we'd slap together a little playlist for you all to listen to. Plus we havent done mixtape in a minuet so why the hell not. Be safe out there. Embrace Hurricane Irene with Earthquake Stevie

Pollyn - Mysterons (Portishead Cover)

Pollyn pays tribute to Portishead, recreating the single Dummy with their own Mysteron. You can find this rendition of the early 90's classic accompanying their latest single How Small We Are as a B side. The LA based trio's reputation of being eccentric and genre erratic has been established, hence their cover of Portishead comes at no surprise. We anticipate the release of Living in Patterns on October 4th to be a good one. Definitely check them out.

Purity Ring - Belispeak

After wowing us with Lofticries and Ungirthed, Purity Ring does it again with belispeak. The track is a bit faster than their previous two wonders, however the focus remains on lead singer Megan James' perfectly crisp vocals. Those beautiful vocals might be coming to a city near you soon as Purity Ring joins Neon Indian and Com Truise on tour. How can you not love that voice. belispeak will be on Purity Ring's upcoming 7" with Braids due out October 10th on Fat Possum.

Com Truise - Datebar

Com Truise sends out some free download love before he hits the road. With Datebar Mr. Truise continues to show us his unique ability to create a sound that is his own. That glitched out 80s sound never felt so good. Com leaves this Sunday (hurricane permitting) to join Active Child (with Chad Valley). Next he will be joining Neon Indian (with Purity Ring), and after that the Brooklyn synth wizard heads to the EU for all of November. Check out the Com Truise' Shows Page for more info.
