The Acid Invaders drop in with a free Summer Party Remix of their upcoming single Change. The AA single is set for release on August 31st on Introduce, and features a modern up-beat progressive twist to the acidic sounds of the late 80s and early 90s. A sound that we've grown accustomed to hearing from the Brussels trio. You can check out the video for the original version of Change below as well. Acidic indeed.

Deadmau5 - Where Are My Keys
Deadmau5 unveils a new track that asks the eternal question, Where Are My Keys. In all seriousness the track has nothing to do with your keys (or Deadmau5' for that matter). Instead it is another head thumping banger from the king of all things electronic. Its a live recording from Space Ibiza, so its still a bit raw, but we can imagine how thoroughly hardcore this track will be once the appropriate production is put in. The man is a menace to your ears. Let him menace.

YOU at IDentity Festival (Jones Beach)
Alright so after embracing the Earthquake, we are happy to share our photo coverage of YOU at IDentity Festival Jones Beach. We got some prime shots of you guys, such a lovely bunch you all were. IDentity Festival Artist Photos
We finally bring you our artist photo coverage IDentity Festival at Jones Beach from this past weekend. Overall, an excellent festival with each performance exceeding our expectations. Between the stellar line up and amazing crowd, this was one for books. Unfortunately our photos were cut short by the rain, however, that didn't stop you guys from partying it up throughout the show.
Each artist took our breath away, but we'll go out and say that Nero spinning through the rain was our pick for top performance with Chuckie and Manufactured Superstars picking up honorable mentions. From the looks of the show, you guys were having just as much fun as we did, if not more. To all of you getting ready for IDentity to hit your town, your in for quite the treat, get those tickets now. A very special thanks to Skullcandy and MSPOR for putting on one of our favorite festivals yet.
The fan photos we promised you all will be up first thing in the morning. You guys were a great crowd to shoot, leading us too take a ton of photos. We'll be working through the night to bring them to you. Thanks for being beautiful.
Voltaire Twins - Animalia (Lifelike Remix)
Lifelike is one of those guys that when he decides to do a remix its just not allowed to be mediocre. Never. The producer has established himself as one of France's dance scene gems. Officially, after releasing Discopolis in 2005. You may remember the MTV censored video directed by Seb Janiak, same director of Daft Punk's Burnin, featuring the sexy Lily Tenue strutting her stuff. Awesome! Anyways, no shock here the Animalia remix is no exception. Keep em' coming LIFELIKE!
IDentity Festival Fan Photos will be up within the hour!!!

Born Gold - Alabaster Bodyworlds
Currently Born Gold, formerly GOBBLE GOBBLE, releases their first song under the new name, . Alabaster Bodyworlds is part of the Canadian bands upcoming debut LP, Bodysongs, due out September 20th. The track features crisp vocals breaking through a flurry of different sounds. As for the the evolution from GOBBLE to Born Gold, we'll let vocalist Cecil Frena explain: "We have been slowly coaxing this caterpillar into a butterfly with our fists. Check it out, girl - a new face to fit both our past to date and the future-sex we are slowly growing into. Stand before a mirror, hold your palm over your right eye, and repeat Born Gold six times.” Perfect.

Future Islands – Balance
A very special thank you to Stereo Gum for premiering a stellar new track from Future Islands. Balance, features that post-rock sound we grew up on, but adds a bit of a modern grit to it. There is definitely a hint of The Cure in there. Balance, is part of the Baltimore based band's upcoming On the Water album, due out this October (Thrill Jockey). Grab the track below to chew on till then. You change your life. It just takes time.
Future Islands – Balance
Björk - Virus (Them Jeans Remix)
First of all, anything with steel drums involved automatically rocks. Hence, Them Jeans' remix of Björk's Virus automatically became a favorite as soon as we hit play. A nice little track to warm things up this weekend as we wind down this hot mess of a summer. Mr. Jeans seem to follow Bjork's lead on the track, starting off very melodic and mellow, only to bring the house down towards the end. In the artists' words: a dark and bouncy bootleg. Agreed. Free download in the player. Steel Drums 4 Life.
Virus (Them Jeans Remix) by Them Jeans
Moby - Lie Down (Video)
Moby releases an incredibly immaculately directed video for Lie Down, the latest single off his recent Destroyed album. The video features some perfectly framed shots of unique landscapes. Further, directors from The Institute For Eyes venture to the next frontier, capturing the beauty and awe that is space. Picturesque to say the least.
Bon Iver - Holocene (Video)
A little Bon Iver to mix things up here on Scotch and Murder. After traveling through the grit of 70s New York with a murderous mad man, we take you on an Icelandic nature walk with the purest of little boys. Only at Scotch and Murder do you get such fanatically fantastic juxtaposition. But seriously, Bon Iver rocks (without even rocking).

Com Truise - Broken Date (Video)
You already know how much we love Com Truise and fan videos, so you can imagine how psyched we were to find a fan video for one of our favorite Mr. Truise tracks, Broken Date. Take a trip to the 70s in New York through the eyes of a young De Niro and the ears of the Brooklyn synth king, Com Turise.

Sigur Rós to Release Live Album and Film - Inni
Sigur Ros is one of those bands that comes out once in a blue moon, deeming the introduction of a new sound still possible. The band caught the worlds attention with the release of ( ) in 2002, adding to their die hard Icelandic and European following. Since then, the Reykjavík based group have kept the momentum, releasing Takk (2005), Heima and Hvarf/Heim (2007), and Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (2008). Each album filled with Jonsi Birgisson's soft high vocals and bow guitar ringing throughout the record.
Thankfully, after a 3 year hiatus, the minimalist group returns with a live film and double live album, Inni. Vincent Morisset, the director of Arcade Fire's Miroir Noir, contributes his artistic direction to Inni, filming and re-filming live performances, throwing in obscure scenes to deliver the alien-like sensation you get from their shows. The film premiers September 3 at the Venice Film Festival.
Airbird - City vs Mountains
Joel Ford (from Ford & Lopatin, formerly Games) releases a new track under his Airbird alias. City vs. Mountains is the title track off Mr. Ford's upcoming 12"due out this September on Mexican Summer / Software. The song keeps with 80s feel we are used to hearing from Joel's other projects, but with a softer synth feel and less of a grinding beat. Very enjoyable indeed.

Matt & Kim, Soulja Boy and Andrew W.K. - I'm A Goner
When three artists from notably different genres collaborate it always catches our eye. Hence, when we saw Matt & Kim, Soulja Boy, and Andrew W.K. mashed into one artist line, we were intrigued. A bit skeptical at first, however, we ultimately decided that the track works (we think). Give it a spin and let us know what you think. I'm a goner.

Walls - Sunporch (Holy Other Remix)
Man, there is something creepy and exciting about Holy Other. Relaxation battling irritation, metaphorically speaking that is. Before we get to hear Walls Coracle LP (Kompakt), Holy Other wets our appetite with a remix of the LP's single Sunporch, resulting in a very haunting edit of the track.
Walls - Sunporch (Holy Other Remix)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie (Video)
The Red Hot Chili Peppers released the video for the first single, The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie, off their highly anticipated album I'm With You. The video has RHCP jamming out on the roof of an Venice Beach rooftop as a crowd of fans gathers, and Anthony Keidis with a mustache. Surely the video will remind of U2's Where the Streets Have No Name, that was our first thought. I'm With You (with its Damien Hirst designed album cover) is set for release on August 30th.
The Naked and Famous - The Sun (Video)
The Naked and Famous unveiled a strikingly NSFW video for their latest single The Sun. The video certainly contains plenty of nudity. The video is so controversial it has been dubbed too hot for YouTube. However, it is no way cheap or raunchy. Rather, there is a certain air of romance, art, and lust involved that makes it hard for us to turn away. Surely unsuitable, yet totally worth it.
As for the The Sun, it is a fantastically down-tempo dream of a track that will have your ears convinced Radiohead is playing. We've got to hand it to the Auckland, New Zealand quintet every since seeing them live at New York Summer Stage they continue to impress and have sent us a whole new vibe. Much love, much respect.

Balam Acab – Motion

Deadmau5 - Professional Griefers
Thankfully, the apple does not fall far from the tree. In this case we are referring to the new track Professional Griefers by the electro God Deadmau5. Joel Zimmerman crafted the distinct sound that everyone now knows and loves. The two worlds of smooth ambient and overpowering death beats collide resulting in jaw dropping automatic dance sensation. Professional Griefers delivers a continuous robust and gritty beat, excluding any real melody for one purpose. Death beat.

Super8 & Tab Added to Electro Zoo
Guess who just joined the Electric Zoo 2011 lineup. The Finnish duo Super8 & Tab will be joining 100+ electronic artists this year on Randall's Island New York headlined by Tiesto, David Guetta, and Armin van Buuren. Trance is a rarity on the Scotch and Murder playlist, however, these Scandinavian neighbors are redefining the genre. They now broadcast their SuperTab Radio show on 79 FM stations worldwide and have remixed countless singles. Check out their 8th session below

Mr. Little Jeans - The Suburbs (Video) (Arcade Fire Cover)
A while back we shared Scandinavian temptress Monica Birkenes' (aka Mr. Little Jeans) cover of Arcade Fires The Suburbs. We told you how much we loved the dark eerie take on the classic, and how splendidly Ms. Birkenes' vocals fit the track's vibe. Well, Monica sang the hell out of that song, and now has an alarmingly fantastic video to show for it. This one may be our favorite yet.
The video reveals a dark tale with suburbia as its back drop. We see a girl from with a past scarred by lost loved ones. She attempts to erase her haunted memories through sex, drugs, and brimstone, only to realize that there is no escape. We promise chills down your spine.

A very special thanks to High5Collecctive who put the video together. Talk about telling a story.Very rarely do we see a video capture the true grit and soul of a song (particularly in today's music world) They are extremely talented and bright people. Please take the time to check out their work, you wont regret it.

Teeel - MOOGWAI
Teeel drops in with fresh new track, MOOGWAI. The track starts with a picturesque lead and then builds into a peak of some sweet deep grinding synth. Part of the ISO50 compilation Under The Mountain, which you can download for free. MOOGWAI certainly carries the sordid 80s sound we've come to expect from the Mr. Teeel. As for the name of the track we'll defer to the artist: Through scientific R&D, I was able to fuse a MOOG synthesizer with a Mogwai from the movie “Gremlins” to make a super hybrid known as a MOOGWAI. Bravo sir, bravo.

Radiohead TKOL RMX 4
The latest installment of the Radiohead TKOL remix series is out, and we are instantly in love. Definitely a bit tripper than the past remix releases, with a heavy dose of minimalist sounds. The tracks will become available for digital purchase on August 15th, but for now you can stream below.
Feist - How Come You Never Go There
Feist finally unveils the first single of the new album Metals. How Come You Never Go There is quite the ballad, with obviously amazing vocals. Metals is set for release on October 4th. She truly is breathtaking.

Tigers on a Leash (Lou Teti) - I Know the Way
A welcomed injection of rock from fellow Brooklyn local Lou Teti, aka Tigers on a Leash. The group lays down some mean riffs on I Know The Way (they sure sound like they do). The single off the Tigers last album will be part of an all Remix EP, which you can stream below. Also, dont forget to snag a free download of the Cassian Dub Version. Huge fans of the original, we will be rocking to this one for a hot minuet, so should you. No pressure, just saying its a good song thats all.

Alex Winston - Velvet Elvis (RAC Mix)
The Remix Artist Collective, better known as RAC, continues to kill it. Their latest re-work of Alex Winston's Velvet Elvis (pretty awesome name by the way) is a prime example of their talents. RAC displays a unique ability to emphasize an artists skill set by picking the perfect sounds to match such skills. Here, the trio pairs Ms. Winston's crispy clean vocals with a softer synth and melodic beat. On top of all that god given talent they are pretty nice guys, and are giving the track away for free (in player). Happy ears all around. Grab it.

Poolside - Do You Believe (Goldroom Remix)
Poolside jumps back on our chart , however, its Goldroom that gets the credit for their remix to Do You Believe. The track has a bit of a pop-progressive sound to it, if that makes any sense. Probably the perfect song to start the morning with. Oh yeh, and grab the track for free right off the player. Can you believe that we have what it takes.

Crookers & Savage Skulls – Bust Em Up (Na Ciphra) (Fatboy Slim Re-Edit)
Time to kick things up a notch. The Crookers and Savage Skulls collaboration that resulted in Bust Em Up has just got better. How you ask? With a splash of a little something called Fatboy Slim. The track was pretty phenomenal to begin with, but anything (anything, even your mom's meatloaf) will get better when a little Fatboy is introduced. Check out the track below, then go make it one to remember.

Flamingo Drive Feat. Kristine - Strange World (FM Attack Remix) + (Video)
Is that The Cure? No, but it is FM Attack remixing Flamingo Drive's Strange World. With both bands seemingly obsessed with the 80s one could imagine how great this tag team would be before even listening to it. We gladly report that their is no disappointment. Let us not forget to mention how perfectly Kristine's vocals matches the sound and vibe track. The single is set for exclusive release August 15 on Juno and August 22nd worldwide on Mullet Records. Get your ears wet with full stream of the blissfully 80s remix and the official video for the original below.
