Balam Acab – Oh, Why
Supremely gohsly track from Balam Acab off his upcoming album Wander / Wonder due out August 29 (Tri Angle). We'll let Mr. Acab describe this one for you:
“It’s an open ended album, and I think individuals should make their own meaning of it so that it is something actually real to them. It’s not classical music, but in the tradition of a classical work like a Bach Cello Suite, I see it as more of a whole musical piece with themes/motifs/ideas reoccurring throughout, connecting the tracks together as opposed to simply being a collection of songs that sit next to each other in isolation. It’s also an album that should be listened to loudly.”
Balam Acab – Oh, Why
PURPLE EP

Peter & The Magician - La Fiorentina
Who knew that magicians make magic? The Magician continues to ride those 80s synth sounds to success. If you have a white Corvette laying around you should be driving it down a mountain side to this song.
Peter & The Magician "La Fiorentina" by TheMagician
Blood Diamonds - Grins
An alluring piece of work from Vancouver talent Blood Diamonds, the vocals on this one are simply stirring. Look out for the new upcoming Grins / Move the Stars 7" single due out this July (Transparent), which will feature a Holy Other remix.

Thomas Collins releases another track as they march toward their June release date for the highly anticipated EP. This will be the last track we get until the release, but keep an eye out for a Thomas Collins music video. Super chillwave, spark one to it.

Bermuda Bonnie – Evil
As we noted in an earlier post, Bermuda Bonnie is releasing a series of songs leading up to the release of their second album out later this summer. Next up is Evil, a bit darker than their first release Kohl's, yet still perfectly groovy for any beach party.

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross)

If you happened to see X-Men: First Class this weekend you would have seen the trailer for David Fincher's version of the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We're not in the business of commentating on trailers but this one was defnitely noteworthy. Trent Reznor and Karen O team up to reinvent Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, thumping along with the chopped up trailer. Once again Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross join forces to score Fincher's movie with, most likely, another dark and robust soundtrack. Check out the sample.

Figure - The Monsters Revenge
Now Victor Frankenstein, you die. Figure creates his own monster in a tribute to the destruction of Victor Frankenstein. The Monsters Revenge is a follow up on the Figure and Kanji Kinetic collaboration, Frankenstein. Both tracks are hardcore instant bangers, but we always prefer the taste of revenge here at Scotch and Murder. This monstrosity must be destroyed.
Johan Agebjörn & Queen Of Hearts - The Last Day Of Summer (Le Prix Remix)
It seems as if every time Johan Agebjörn and Le Prix remix one another the song is sent into an 80s space odyssey. Well, here is another one to surf in space to.

Medina - You and I (Dead C∆T Bounce)
Is this dubstep? Is this dance? We're not sure but its astonishing. Dead C∆T Bounce comes flying into the radar with their remix of You and I by Medina. The Luxembourg duo offer a unique remix, one that roars with dirt dub and electro beats.

The Arcade Fire - Suburbs (Mr. Little Jeans Remix)
Mr. Little Jeans, the one-woman show led by Scandinavian Monica Birkenes, releases her remix of Arcade Fire's The Suburbs, a dark rendition of the hit single. We personally favor the remix, not to discredit Arcade Fire whatsoever. Check out more of her material on SounCloud as there is plenty.

An Interview with a NewVillager
![]() |
| NewVillager's Ben Bromley (right) was kind enough to sit down and chat with Scotch and Murder |
You may remember NewVillager from their absolutely stellar video for LightHouse. We recently had the privilege to sit down with NewVillager’s immensely creative and talented Ben Bromley and learn more about the group and some upcoming projects. The self described "new-pop" band started in California where Ben and co-founder Ross Simonini met in college, and were recently joined by Colin Palmer. Currently residing in New York, the three come together to provide a high energy, yet soothing sound that is true to NewVilllager's vision.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Trick Pony (Boyz Noize Remix)
While Charlotte Gainsbourg in the process of finishing up her new album with the assistance of Beck,
Boys Noize took the time to reallocate some serious sounds revolving around her Charlotte's track Trick Pony. The German legend never ceases to amaze. Take a pull.

The video for ACheerleader (Dir. Jonnie Penn and Olivier Olivier) will inspire you to go hard this weekend. Bikini totally fucking rocks, replacing the Zombie Kids as the current artist with the baddest video out. Hell, they might have the baddest song out right now, its definitely our favorite Pick up the NYC based Bikini new EP RIPJDS.
WIM - See You Hurry (Twin Shadow Remix)
We get excited when he see something about WIM or Twin Shadow. Needless to say, we got very excited when we saw Twin Shadow remixed WIM's See You Hurry.
Mustard Pimp & Jimmy Urine - Money Shot
What do you think would happen if George Washington took a trip to hell? What if he took acid? What about if he took acid in hell? Mustard Pimp and Jimmy Urine team up to show you exactly that in the video for Money Shot.
The New Division - True Lies
The New Division maintains their place as the leader of creating epic sounds with new single, True Lies. The band seems to have a knack for perfectly matching John Kunkel's booming vocals with the rest of the Division's superb sound. Big fans of the track, a fine blend of the dark sordid sounds and a just the right amount of pop.

Architecture in Helsinki - Escapee (Video)
Touching video by Architecture in Helsinki for their breathtaking track Escapee. We cant explain it, but there is something so eerily right about this. Escape with Escapee.
Wolf Gang - The King and All of His Men (Video)
Wolf Gang offers another sample of their highly anticipated debut album Suego Faults (mid 2011), The King and All of His Men. The song really is a blissful, a perfect blend of rock, electronic sounds, tied together with those epic vocals.
ANR - Stay Kids (Video) + Memory Tapes Remix
ANR was one of the first groups we fell in love with when we started Scotch and Murder. The Miami based duo released a new video for the title track off their album Stay Young, which reminds to... well to stay young. The video is the exact opposite from the duo's gory production for Big Problem, reminding us all just how eclectic ANR truly is. We also stumbled across a remix of the track by the awesomeness that is Memory Tapes.

Here are few sample tracks, pick up the Jasmine EP free on bandcamp.

The Naked and Famous - Young Blood (SposhRock Remix)
Dj/Producer SposhRock takes an agressive approach remixing The Naked & Famous' hit single "Young Blood," a great track all by itself. Not sure how you would categorize this remix, maybe some mutated rendition of Chillwave and Witch House. It is clear though that this slow moving, heavily distorted bass track is bad ass. Listen Now!

New Order - Hellbent (Previously Unreleased)
New Order has unleashed a previously unreleased track, Hellbent. The track is off the forthcoming New Order and Joy Division album, TOTAL, available on June 6th (Rhino). We were a bit worried that this was some half hearted promotion, but the track really takes you back and stays true to the bands sound. Very pleasurable.
