Innerpartysystem - Not Getting Any Better The Remixes

You know when you find a remix of an artist you love by an artist you love and you know the song is bad ass before you even listen to it? Innerpartysystem released a remix album doing just that. The album features remixes of Not Getting Any Better by some personal favorites including, Designer Drugs and Treasure Fingers. INSTANT BANGER status on these folks.  You can download them directly off the player.

If you dig the tracks (as we did) then pick up the whole album from Beatport (as we did).

New Order - Hellbent (Previously Unreleased)

New Order has unleashed a previously unreleased track, Hellbent. The track is off the forthcoming New Order and Joy Division album, TOTAL, available on June 6th (Rhino). We were a bit worried that this was some half hearted promotion, but the track really takes you back and stays true to the bands sound. Very pleasurable.

Keren Ann - My Name Is Trouble (Walter Sobcek Remix)

Walter Sobcek is a duo based out of France and Germany, portrayed as concept, a story that needs to be heard. The rest is a mystery.  The group seems to share our penchant for music influenced by the sounds the 80s, and this remix is dripping with such greatness. Matched with Karen Ann's piercing crisp voice, the track makes for an instant classic in our book. Keep an eye out for Walter Sobcek as they continue to lurk through the shadows.

We love this song, and so will you

Jesse Ruins - Interior ambient

We cant help but be amazed by the ethereal and vivid tracks produced under the name Jesse Ruins, who  remains as mysterious one can (we still cant figure out if its band, duo, soloist, let alone if its a he or she), We hope more light will be shed on Jesse Ruins after its upcoming cassette/vinyl release on Cuz Me Pain. Interior Ambient is the latest track we've come across, we find it a fine follow up to their last musical endeavor, Dream Analysis

BUMBLEBEEZ - IM A COWBOI EP

The  BANG GANG released the new BUMBLEBEEZ EP, IM A COWBOI, last weak and we wanted to pass along the good word. In short we love the EP, probably the first time we've heard pure electronic vocals work so well with an entire EP (no not auto-tune, but an actual computer talking). Our favorites are 'I dont Dance the Robot' and 'Fatt Sheriff'.' As described by the BANG GANG, the EP is about:

"A cowboi called Charlie, who ran the Wild Wild Web (A place between Mongolia and India) who rode horses and had the best paddocks in the shire. It tells us of his babe Betty Jane who ran a internet whiskey shop and liked to post pictures of her self around the Wild Wild Web. Then one day Bad Sheriff came to town he had a virus and tied everyones horses to a train and ate everybodys steak and shot all the ravers."

Makes perfect sense. We love it....Listen to the entire EP below, and pick up a copy here. Stay off his Internet.

Teen Daze - The Bluest Water I'd Ever Seen (Video)

Teen Daze provides us with yet another new song from the from the growing collection he has been working on, The Bluest Water I'd Ever Seen. As we've come to expect from the talented Mr. Daze, the track maintains a lovely chill wave sound to it. A perfect beach track, providing that much needed escape from your concrete jungle. Daze was very particular when it came to making the video that accompanies the the new track, and we'd say the two compliment each other quite well. Also, Daze passes along word to keep your ears open for a new album announcement coming very soon.
Download Teen Daze - The Bluest Water I'd Ever Seen.

PICTUREPLANE - Real is a Feeling

PICTUREPLANE (aka Travis Egedy) made a name for himself in the Colorado wharhouse electro scene and he has come along way since. His latest release, Thee Physical, caught our eye.  You can hear the influences of the early 90s late 80 electronic synthish sound. Try out a sample track, Real is a Feeling, below. Love the title on that one.

TWR72 - Summer of 91 (Acid Version)

After a brief hiatus TWR72 is set to release a new EP, 1991. TWR72 which stands for The Walk & Rogers Seventy Two , had huge success on their previous release, Future Tool, which was used by DJs the likes of Diplo and A-Trak. We expect the success to continue. Here is a little preview of the EP, which we intend to be blasting at our parties this weekend, you should be doing the same.

TWR72 - Summer of 91 (Acid Version)

Starfucker - Julius (Video)

Have you noticed that we love epic 80s sounds with excellent accompanying vocals? Starfucker nails the perfect blend of the two in Julius, which they just released a new video for. The video truly captures the essence of our boundless imaginations as children. Love the song, love the video. Rock on Starfucker.

Holy Ghost! - Wait & See (CFCF Remix)

New remix of Holy Ghost! by CFCF. Holy Ghost! rocks. CFCF rocks. Therefore, this remix rocks. Pure logic.

Holy Ghost - Wait & See (CFCF Remix)

Zimmer - Half Moon Bay (Mixtape)

We usually are not the biggest fans of posting entire mixtapes, but we do make the occasional exception when were are simply blown away. This is one of those occasional exceptions. Zimmer's Half Moon Bay mixtape is just too good to resist. Although made for the month of May, this one may make it through the entire summer.

Blak Nite - Versionen LP

We previously posted that Blak Nite will be releasing a new LP, Versionen, on June 6th (on download and 250 limited press 12" vinyls) , and gave you a little preview of his unique sound. Recently our good friends at Tangled Talk slipped us a sneak peak of the LP, and lets just say we are still very much impressed with the East London producer. What sticks out about Blak Nite is a commitment to sticking to his own sound. A sordid, dark, and soulless sound that we love. You may just feel like your in the Valley of Hell. Join us.

Governors Ball - NYC Music History to be Made

With its 100th post Scotch and Murder is pleased to announce, in honor of the FIRST EVER Governors Ball (NYC, June 18th 2011), we will be doing a series of features on the festival and its artists. Think of  this first installment as an introduction to a festival we believe will be thoroughly kick ass and hope becomes a part of New York City for years to come.

The line up is simply killer, featuring some Scotch and Murder favorites including: Neon Indian, Miami Horror, Pretty Lights, Girl Talk,  Empire of the Sun, and the festival recently added Das Racist to the show. This collection, and the fact that there are no overlapping sets, is evidence that whoever put this Ball together had you, the music fan, in mind. Each artist is known for the their epic and awe inspiring performances. Which is why we believe the Governors Ball will be one of the most intimate concert experiences to date. Beside that you will be in New York, on an island,  in the perfect summer weather, whats not to love.

Are goal you ask? To make the Governors Ball the New York summer festival for generations to come. NYC currently lacks its staple music festival and that pains us here at Scotch and Murder. Chicago has Lollapalooza, Miami has Ultra, Los Angeles its Coachella, and even Tennessee has Bannaroo, but the best city in the world lacks an epic music festival. Its time to make music history in New York, we've got our tickets, do you?
